Mission
AOS headed up the project and relocation management for the new replacement hospital and Medical Office Building (MOB) located in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The new hospital has 11 floors and is approximately 730,000 square feet. The MOB has 7 floors and is approximately 250,000 square feet. The new hospital has a 259-bed facility, a 97-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 12 operating rooms an obstetrics unit with a well-baby nursery, a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, and a Cancer and Blood Disorder Center.
Challenges
- Relocating the new MOB with all the existing furniture that was to be refurbished had to be accomplished without disrupting the everyday operations.
- Coordination of the MOB lab, so it was ready to be turned over at the same time as the main hospital.
- Complexity of the project schedule was a challenge, but the AOS team broke down the components and accomplished the task.
Value Added
AOS developed a comprehensive schedule, occupation, and transition plan for the new hospital and Medical Office Building. The plan included the physical relocation of staff, equipment, and departments, as well the relocation of patient care units, patients, and their families. The high level project schedule included construction completion items ensuring all departments, labs, clinics, pharmacies, and licensing requirements were tracked closely.
